About Us
What We Do
DAS VALLEY CENTER DISASTER ANIMAL RESPONSE TEAM members, including animal care professionals, participate in a monthly DAS VC
DART training program approved by the Department of Animal Services. This prepares us to provide for the safety and care
of livestock and pets in the event of an emergency in Valley Center or nearby north San Diego county communities. Volunteers
complete required courses offered through FEMA. Additional training opportunities may be provided by other local
agencies or organizations. As part of Valley Center's Emergency Response Plan, DAS VC DART will only activate
at the direction of the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services.
DAS VALLEY CENTER DISASTER ANIMAL RESPONSE TEAM
How We Will Do It
DAS VC DART provides training for our members so that they qualify to be deployed. Our trained "hands-on" volunteers will be
locally available to assist emergency response officials with the evacuation and care of our domestic livestock and pets when disaster
strikes.
Education and Information
DAS VC DART has a very active public awareness and emergency preparedness education program. Look for our information booth
at public events. We also offer a presentation for your club or organization.
